This is one of my terrestrial nanos. My first Nacu meeting Erik said maybe we could discuss all planted aquariums so I thought I'd take a second to show off this one. The Begonia Prismatocarpa just bloomed and I'm pretty excited. It's a slightly rare plant that I almost lost a while back.

The flowers look like little red purses until they open.

The inhabitant is a Green Leg Lamasi dart frog.

You've got to tell us more! What a tease...
Please, share all the specs, lighting, how you control humidity, how you fertilize, etc...

Ah, thanks guys. This is actually the most unbelievably simple setup. There's a layer of gravel, then a layer of sphagnum moss, and then a layer of pillow moss which I think had some java moss and riccia mixed in. I added an epiphytic orchid on a piece of wood, the Begonia and a small jewel orchid. It's taken about 6 months maybe for it to grow to the point it's at now. I used to add orchid fertilizer before the frog but I haven't added any for a while. Looking for a good fert that will be ok for the frog although I think the Begonia started blooming when I quit fertilizing so maybe I should just leave it. The light is an easy to come by 13w ottlight. I want to switch it out for my black one though to better match the tank. There is a glass top that keeps the humidity up and I mist it when it looks like it needs it. The Lamasi gets fruit flies and spring tails. I try to stay away from crickets with the Begonia as they find it very tasty.

What kind of water do you mist it with to avoid hardwater spots? Also what are the dimensions of the tank?

do you heat the tank? Where do you buy the live food? Where'd you get the plants?

Sorry for the lag. Just got back from Ca.
I don't heat the tank. The light warms it during the day and it's typically good with reptiles and amphibians to let temperatures fall a bit at night as they do in the wild. The plants came from various places. Some were ordered online, some bought in local plant stores. I really like cactus and tropicals for orchids. You can usually get fruit flies from petco but making your own cultures is cheaper by far. I use distilled water typically for misting unless I run out and then aged tap is fine but does leave spots. Not sure on the dimensions of the tank. I'll have to measure it but I think it's around 1 1/2 - 2 gallons.

It's definitely a fun little tank. I used to have several of them but lost most of them with moving around and all. I'm working on a 30 g. right now.
